3D modelling
There are a few tools you have access to when it comes to finding the right one that will suit your fancy for either digital modelling or digital art. The greatest concern I have in mind in such a quest is price. In the coming weeks you will become familiar with my work as I tutor you on a number of the dominant players in the market as I outline them below.
I am Ozzitronics’ Creative Director, and as such, it is our desire to enforce a spirit of information sharing with our potential customers, loyal clients and partners as we are sure this will add value to both you from our expert advice as well as us from your challenging thoughts from time to time.
I want to start off with a world renowned application called 3D Studio Max. Nick named by its loyal users, 3D Max. 3D Max is acknowledged as one of the heavy weights in 3D design. With a large base in architectural modelling and a leading player in 3D games development. This is a first choice among professionals and not only because the interface is easy to understand and neither because there are lots of tutorials freely available on the internet, 3D Max is one of thee most sophisticated application in this industry, so much so that you can easily find 5 or even up to 10 different specialists in a team of designers working with just one feature from it.
Second on my list is a somewhat enigmatic application, perhaps because of its pricing, Maya. Maya is an incredible program, specifically created for high-end film and broadcast production. Although a bit expensive it is a professional program and one of the best at that. Maya also takes just that much more dedication to learn, but like the nobles of old, is an astoundingly brilliant application in its own right.
Third on my list is Lightwave 3D. What is that you ask. Well, not as popular as the other two just mentioned, though it is a high-end 3D animation and rendering program. Available for both PC and Mac, Lightwave 3D is widely adored for its richness when it comes to rendering although criticised for its difficult user interface by new comers, it is known and loved by its loyal users for its speed, flexibility, value and control. It’s maker boasts that if you are running operations on a tight budget, have an imminent deadline or simply need to show off real quality fast, this is the program that was made just for you.
Fourth and and favourite on my list, is Blender. Blender is the most popular open source 3D design application available today. Much of the functionality you will find on either Maya, Lightwave 3D or even 3d Studio Max will also be available to you, and at a cost of zero too. It can pretty much be run on any operating system as the source code is available for compilation at will.
Fifth and final is not really an application per ser, but a company that makes the best in its field. E-on Software is a company that prides themselves as the leaders in 3D digital nature solutions, founded in 1997, they continue to provide our community with astonishing applications that deliver just what they say. With applications like LumenRT, Ozone 5, Carbon Scatter, Eon itself and many more. This is a truly dedicated company when it comes to digital nature. One thing I like perhaps the most is how they engage and motivate artists and the n00b’s with their constant competitions.
Now that we have all been introduced, me and these applications noted above. I will soon be giving you in depth information pertaining to each one’s use. I will teach you how to get the best from either one of these applications. I will answer all your questions as best I can about whatever problems you may be facing and so on. I hope to see you come back here and feel at home.
